In the history of Alba there is a vacuum of knowledge concering the real Gods. We can draw parallels to other celtic regions, Ireland especially but as Gods are extremely individual and local those parallels can only go so far.
Morrigan is a great goddess, whose appearance in our lifes started long before the arrival of the gods from the middle east brought by heathen invaders. Morrigan shows herself in three forms, Badb, Macha and Nemain or Annan. This trio should not be confused as a trinity but rather three shades of personality of one incredibly powerful and complex entity.
Capable of taking on the forms of birds or animals, the crow has become synomous with Morrigan. Just as cats suffer from association with the devil so does the crow, a noble bird, suffer with assocation with Morrigan. This is a result of the superstitions of christian foolishness.
Morrigan is a difficult goddess to understand in the terms of how we understand gods today, she is a goddess who does not compromise. She is strong-willed, ferocious, rejoices in battle causing frenzy, panic and blind terror in her foes. It is also said of her that she guided the souls of those fallen in battles to the start of their new journey.
What is most fascinating about Morrigan is her ability to move in different realitities, that of the mortals and subliminal realms of deeper meaning. Something not many gods do.
Our society has become weak and decadent, we are afraid of the cleansing factor of battle. Yet the time is coming when we can no longer escape, conflict is inevitable. Our population growth is becoming unsustainable. A rich, greedy and corrupt minority are destroying everything, the masses suffer.
The signs of Morrigan becoming more present in the mortal realms are increasing, if one knows where to look. I fear Morrigan but also embrace her coming. We need her cleansing powers. Only Morrigan can return us to a status quo with nature and give us back our equilibrium..
